GREAT SUCCESS FOR THE THREE DAYS OF EURO'MEET LECCO 2024: SPORT, INCLUSION AND SUSTAINABILITY AS KEY THEMES IN LECCO

The three-day Euro'Meet Lecco, the international event dedicated to promoting sport and outdoor activities as tools for a healthy, inclusive and sustainable lifestyle, concluded on Thursday, September 12. In 2024, the province of Lecco hosted the initiative, welcoming over 200 guests from across Europe and various countries around the world. This year's edition focused on the role of new technologies in making outdoor sports increasingly inclusive and sustainable. Throughout the three mornings, workshops and conferences offered valuable insights on how to jointly tackle this path of innovation and responsibility. All participants shared a clear goal: to continue working together in synergy towards a common objective—promoting sports that are accessible and respectful of the environment. The afternoons, on the other hand, were dedicated to various outdoor sporting activities, allowing participants to explore the wonders of the Lecco area. From water sports such as sailing, canoeing and rowing, SUP, eFoiling, wakeboarding, and windsurfing, to more adrenaline-filled activities like mountain biking, hiking, paragliding, roller skating, and skateboarding, and even sports focused on personal well-being and socializing, such as yoga, plogging, orienteering, Pilates, tree hugging, beach volleyball, and relaxation practices. These experiences, offered by B-Cheers Beach Volley Team ASD, Società Canottieri Lecco, ASD Nirvana Verde, Arianna Cecchini (a mountain guide), Torrevilla Bike, Vibes ASD, Aero Club Monte Cornizzolo, Rotellistica Roseda Merate ASD, Centro Remiero, Orza Minore Sailing School SSD, ASD Efoile Experience, Valore SRL, ASD Sci Nautico Lago di Lecco, and Windsurf Club Valmadrera ASD, encouraged sharing and the joy of being outdoors together. They strengthened the sense of community and collaboration among participants, united by their passion for sports and nature. The event's success was celebrated during the closing conference, where Alessandra Hofmann, President of the Province of Lecco, hosted Olympic athlete Davide Comini and Paralympic athlete Kwadzo Klokpah, presenting them with honorary awards for their outstanding achievements at Paris 2024. This special moment underscored the bond between the Province of Lecco, high-level sports, and the promotion of sports for all. Following this, Ilaria Bonacina, President of Confartigianato Lecco, delivered an enthusiastic speech about the wonders of the Lecco region, inviting all attendees to continue discovering the beauty and opportunities offered by this splendid area. The dedication and support of the organizers and sponsors—Province of Lecco, ENOS (European Network for Outdoor Sports), Regione Lombardia, Politecnico di Milano - Lecco Campus, Univerlecco, the Chamber of Commerce of Como-Lecco, Confcommercio Lecco, Confartigianato Lecco, Confapi Lecco and Sondrio, and Silea—along with the 15 sports associations involved, confirmed the great success of this edition of Euro'Meet 2024. This event, held every two years in a different country, has already set its next appointment for 2026, with the commitment to continue promoting the values of sport, inclusion, and sustainability worldwide.
